We walked and talked a lot, constantly stepping into the zones of discomfort.
History of Pula as a military base sparked conversation on nations vs race, harsh times, abandoned institutions and unused potentials, or worst repurposed cultural heritage for capital of the few. Surrounded by rich cultural history we struggled to find any current movements. We engaged in act of slow listening. Listening to the past mixing with present. Chasing echoes and being lost in out wandering.
You find so much when you are lost...
Having a critical conversation on our practices, their meanings, our need for it and ripple effects they make, we found comfort in knowing that we appreciate the little things. We value and believe in the effect and strength of those micro movements. Even if you seek to fight systematic oppression you first start small. Work on micro movements, invisible strategies, build hope and community, nurture emergent strategies.
We weren't making noise. but we lived and worked in one and this was our time of stillness. Privileged yet impossibly needed focused time to just work on our artworks.
Walking into some abandoned thoughts, lands and knowledge we allowed vulnerability and listen from within.
Seeking echoes and chasing weird sounds we allowed fun. We where collecting, soaking in, dismantling and synthesizing. We encouraged ourselves to just have fun while we started deconstructing the old narratives and known.
